Ted Dent

'Previously, Ted was the Head Coach of the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League from 2021-2023 (OHL). Prior to coaching in Flint, Ted was a professional scout with the Arizona coyotes from 2018-2019 (NHL).

Ted was with the chicago Blackhawks organization for 11 years, 2006 through 2017. he was the head coach for six of those season with the rockford ice hogs in the american hockey league (ahl), with an overall record of 223-179-54. ted has been part of the organization for all three Stanley Cup championship seasons in 2010, 2013, 2015.

Working alongside Head Coaches Mike Haviland and Bill Peters from 2007-11 as an assistant coach, the IceHogs posted a regular-season record of 216-145-17-22 and qualified for the Calder Cup playoffs in four of five seasons. Prior to joining the Blackhawks organization, Dent was the head coach of the ECHL’s Columbia Inferno for the 2005-06 season. During the 2004-05 season, Dent was the assistant coach of the ECHL Kelly Cup champions Trenton Titans.

Dent played parts of four seasons in professional hockey. The centerman’s top season came during the 1993-94 campaign, when he potted 84 points in 67 games with the ECHL’s Johnstown Chiefs. In 194 career games at the professional level, Dent totaled 198 points.

Dent played his college hockey at St. Lawrence University, graduating with a B.S. in sports management in 1992. During his time at St. Lawrence, the Saints won the ECAC Championship in 1989 and 1992, advancing to the NCAA tournament both seasons.

After Dent’s playing career ended, he joined the Washington Capitals as a video coordinator from 1999-2004. During his time in Washington, Dent worked with Randy Carlyle, Ron Wilson, Tim Hunter and Tim Army. He assisted coaches on the penalty kill, prepared and broke down all team videos for system meetings and was responsible for pre-scouting upcoming opponents.

ted has three children: Dylan, Morgan and Paige.
